Hi all, I am having an unexpected issue with redeeming some vouchers I purchased tonight.

Whenever I try and redeem the voucher, instead of the typical redemption process with selecting flights I instead have a dummy itinerary for QF9090. I bought a voucher only a couple of weeks ago which I redeemed with no problems soon afterwards - so I'm not sure what has changed.

Has anyone had any experience with this issue?

I don't particularly wish to do a phone booking if I can avoid it - but if I don't have any luck by tomorrow night I will need to call up as I don't want to miss the chance for a cheap GC fare (family there, not my idea of a holiday destination).

Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks

You need to wait until you get the email confirmation for the voucher. Whilst you get the number immediately it isn't activated for an hour or so.

Thanks for the speedy response!

I have actually received the email - I've followed the link/instructions in that email to no avail over the last 3 hours or so.

Not that specific problem, but when I had a problem recently they waived the fee as they could reproduce the problem.

One option would be to keep clicking on the link (sometimes 4-5 times) before voucher is recognised.

Another option is to click on link in email which redirects to Qantas website and then click on Redeem with booking reference and surname and keep trying until it recognises the voucher.

And if all else fails call customer care who will be happy to either fix the voucher or make the booking for you.

By the way a return SYD-OOL flight on the $48 special only just scrapes in over $50 base airfare without taxes so is OK to use.

Thanks John, is it simply down to the website's booking function suffering a problem?

I'm not flying direct from SYD anyway so there should be no fare breakdown issue with applying the vouchers :)

I had something that sounds similar. Made a booking for a one way domestic flight using a voucher. The booking had a second VCH-GIF segment in it and kept asking me for ETSA details. I just ignored it and they fixed it eventually.

no problem at all with the $88 OOL/MEL sale fare.

Used my last remaining $50 from last year for an early Jan jaunt - nett additional cost was $126.

Who knows? My vouchers have suffered many type of issues and I guess they are website glitches.
