How come VA are not releasing reward seats to LAX for FEB/MAR 2017 .
Redeeming this far ahead has never been a problem in previous years.
I cant see the point of a loyalty programme that doesnt offer seats.

I hear what you are saying, I am waiting too :(

I ended up transferring points to SQ and booked with them PER-LAX in J and then JFK-FRA-SIN in F, and SIN-PER in J. A bit more points, taxes and fees, but so worth it as its a dream coming true, flying first class on a long haul flight.

Availability has reduced since the beginning of this year.

and Welcome Denboy!!

Are they releasing more REWARDS seats closer to the date?

I'm finding flights to LAX on VFF website FROM Sydney that goes to Melbourne first.
But if I want Melb--->LAX nothing....not even Singapore Airlines option?

Yep flights back are still coming thru Sydney? When wanting to go direct to Melb booked out!

I can't answer your question about what they're releasing and when, but as a data point I did book LAX-MEL J on VA24 for a June date soon after they announced the direct flight. I didn't search extensively, just for the week I was looking for and voila. Perhaps I just got lucky.

Didn't think VA fly Melb to LAX did they?

I booked flights for 4 pax in June 2015 for Jan 2016. These were the guaranteed platinum seats, but availability was wide open. So I guess unless they have changed things recently they usually have availability, however, maybe not on the particular day you need.

are guaranteed WP seats for Y only?

Depends:
May be referring to 4 complimentary upgrades from flexible Economy to business or referring to guaranteed 4 economy rewards seats per year on one itinerary at one time but must be booked 6 months out.
