flying on Virgin today (7 march) from OOL>SYD on VA528, and i was on the receiving end of the nicest gesture from an airline - ever. Hey, its only a small one but still, she won a heart today.

On boarding the senior hostie was serving her business class customers with a glass of wine, and she was trying to get back to the front against the flow of traffic I stepped forward half a pace to give some room to get by, then she calls out to the people behind me to stand back for a moment so she can get out. And i just made a little comment that if she gives me one of those glasses, i will let her go by, which was kinda irrelevant as I already had made room. So I just smiled as in - yeah obviously not, and i moved on down.

Later in the flight after drink trolley had passed by, she comes on down and plonks a glass of wine on my tray. I assumed she has given to wrong person, so I told her I didnt order that, and she says Yes you did with a big smile, ah the penny drops and off she goes. Wow!

A few minutes later she comes back again and asks 'you were the guy?' which made me laugh, as she was saying she had no idea where I was sitting and she wasnt exactly sure if it was me. So impressed, she wasnt even serving the passengers in Economy.

Before landing she comes back to collect the glass. i told her thats the best glass of wine I ever had, and that I owe her one.

I have had so much cough to deal with from Airlines the last few years - so for once, stuff like this never happens to me, this really made my day.

Reminds me of a FA on a QF flight (one of these east coast triangle runs) a few yeas back. I was sitting in 4C and had been watching the dinner service in J. After the service, the FA comes down with a glass of white wine asking "you look like you wanted this, would you like to have?"

After a long day that was such a kind gesture of him that it belongs now in the top-3 service moments in cabin for me. The FA read me well and when you have crew members like this, it makes a huge difference. I'm glad that you got yours, @theblank.
