5/10 myself & daughter were in tsv QF lounge when Sms came through upgrade approved Pe-j for qf1 today. I was beyond excited as this will be daughter's first business cabin either domestic or international. She was excited but has nothing to base the better experience on. The return trip business cabin has very few seats available. There were few on outbound so reason to request upgrade.

i was on a high as we boarded our flight to Bne. Daughter was bemused at my excitement.

I feel like putting in doom & gloom music here. About 1/2 hour to Bne, she tells me she feels terrible. She had been fine. She needed ox, said on right side lung finding it difficult to breath, given ventolin. Wheelchair off a/craft. All very tense, que heavy music.

She was in middle seat, lovely gentleman window seat extremely caring, very supportive, he would not disembark until we were off the plane. Our flt from tvs was delayed by 40 minutes. On board, announced folk for Canberra to make their way to gate as soon as disembarked. I kept asking him once we landed if he needed to go. When we got into the terminal, they were calling his name for Canberra. In the situation I didn't get his name, my daughter really appreciated his calm & caring nature.

Flin was the airport duty manager & was wonderful. Our flt to Sydney was boarding as we disembarked, our luggage was taken off. Daughter was now lying down on seats as arrangements being made. Paramedics were called & arrived, sorry to keep using word wonderful, they were.

i was trying to be calm but part of me was saying do not leave a/port without knowledge for continuing trip once daughter cleared for travel. When Flin said for me to call customer care line for next flt, my memory bank came all the 'horror' stories I've read, que frantic music.

when the paramedics did all their assessment it was deemed daughter going to Royal Brisbane. I had heard of a friends experience not having the QF medical report for continuing flt so I was on high alert now, que really frantic music.

It was arranged baggage going into storage, Flin gave me his mobile number, was contacting customer care, gave taxi voucher for return to a/port, gave me medical p/work, to be faxed & also I was to check it over before we left hospital & to also bring it with me back to a/port.

daughter still unwell.

Got to hospital, all of a sudden 4 people after us also coming to ed.

Xray, blood tests, ect, other testing done, no medical evidence to cause. Daughter said she had felt very tight in part of chest. Staff efficient, paramedic called in a couple of times. Medical clearance obtained.

flin text me with information.

we left a/port about 2pm, returned about 5:45pm. We went to service desk, agent knew of situation, flt boarding to Sydney, 10 minutes, row of seats free at back of plane (another new experience, I learned all passengers arrive at same time, que humours sarcasm).

daughter fine, arrived Sydney 4 hrs later than planned, safe, happy & sound. Poor little thing, she never experienced this previously & thought she was going to die. As a parent, I find it doesn't matter age of my adult children, when unwell, etc, I go into that hurting mother behaviour.

She told me later when we were in Bne & I went to the ladies, she apologised to Flin for my controlling nature, que 'whatever' music. I explained to daughter I've read lots on flt experiences & customer care can not always mean what it says.

She has had asthma years ago, so we are now in QF business lounge waiting for qf1, lunching, me with wine, daughter with ventolin now. The QF a/port manager was fantastic, paramedics just lovely. All in all a day I didn't think I would be part of when I've read plane medical emergencies but Prais God she is fine, business seats coming up, que silver lining music.
