Hi All

I've got a little bit of a tricky one, and can't seem to find the answer, despite a bit of googling. Perhaps someone here can help?

My parents have a decent amount of American Express Rewards points, in a US account. They don't have much use for them, and have offered to transfer them to my QANTAS FF account, if I can work out how.

From looking on the US Amex site, they can transfer to lots of airlines, including fellow One World affiliate British Airways. But it doesn't look like QANTAS is an option.

Any thoughts here? Can I possibly create a BA FF account, and then transfer to QANTAS through One World? Am I missing something painfully simple here?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

FYI I've posted this in both the QANTAS FF and AMEX forums, to cover my bases ...

Thanks everyone!!

I think your best bet would be to see if they could transfer them from their USA MR account to an MR account in Australia if they have an Aussie Amex that allows manual transfers to Qantas. From there, they could then send you up to 100k Qantas points per year, and you could also make Award bookings and request upgrades from their account without needing to transfer them between your Qantas accounts.

Otherwise, consider transfering them to BA, AA or CX, where you can redeem for Qantas flights. Just have a look into which gives the best value for the flights you want to book. You won't be able to use these to request QF upgrades though. (note - I haven't checked which airlines you can transfer the Amex points to, though AA and CX seem the most logical in addition to BA)

Can they be transferred to AA ?
Worth 50% to 100% more in an American Airlines freq flyer account compared to Qantas
AA miles can not be used on QF upgrades, but others than that AA miles are far better value. Just look at the miles needed in business awards SYD-LAX and co pay $ fees you need pay QF.
If you do not have an AA account simple to open one.

Can I possibly create a BA FF account, and then transfer to QANTAS through One World?
No. Oneworld are a marketing organization only: Just a name

do you get sc or qff or even AA miles when redeeming? it is not like an ASA is it? more like classic?
