I reckon it was about 2 years ago when I mentioned on here that the SA Government was trying to get direct US flights but nothing eventuated at the time and I thought that was the end of it.
Funnily enough 2 weeks ago I was on a flight back from OLP with a SA government official I’ve known for a while and whilst he mentioned 4 routes are in negotiation currently I didn’t have an inkling that the US was one of those especially with the current political climate over there. He did mention though that QF to SIN is as good as done and that direct flights to India and Japan were progressing well but no mention of the US one
