Across a number of different threads and posts, I've seen several references to Qantas granting greater benefits to FFs who earn the majority of their SCs from Qantas metal versus other Oneworld metal.

References to unpublished benefits such as Lifetime Platinum...

I'm curious as to the validity of these claims and if true, what are the unpublished benefits, the requirements and also, what do you think of this if it's true?

There are no Lifetime Platinum benefits as it doesn't exist.

Greater benefits do accrue to QF metal, as is the case with virtually every other airline and their FF scheme.

There has been the odd occasion on AFF where people do claim to have seen LTP.

A company negotiates an exclusive long term contract with QF and part of the deal includes a few CL and LTP memberships.

One poster claims to have seen his friends QF web "Page Summary" and saw "SC Required for WP ------"

1 As Spruce said, it's not a published benefit, but there have been the odd rumor here and there. Until l see it with my own eyes, 'meh.

2 (My personal opinion) - I would credit to AA and get CK status because it is achievable, unlike QF CL or the WP+ level (and know a few people on this level) which is extremely hard to get.

Apparently Lifetime Platinum does exist.

It is by invitation only and requires 28,000+ SCs on QF metal. There is no guarantee though that you will receive Lifetime Platinum with 28,000+ SCs on QF metal anyway so not really worth striving to reach it.

What's the WP+ level and what are the "benefits"?

Are the requirements for CK status published?

Cheers,

I'm talking unpublished benefits. Here and there people on these forums have sworn to its existance, but I've never seen any evidence.

So what are they??

From my experience I was able to allocate row 1 at time of booking in J (Dom & Trans Tasman)

Also I get telephoned the day before I fly to book spa treatments in the F Lounge even when flying J Trans Tasman. That never used to happen in the past.

I am not sure about higher possiblity of OP UPs as I always fly in the premium cabin. HOWEVER +1 gets OP Upped nearly every time he flies. He was my PG but is now WP in his own right.

Not sure about "Lifetime", but I have heard from a reliable source of an ex-CL (top 10 QFFer in his flying heyday) who was given guaranteed platinum for a number of years after retiring and losing CL.

It didn't last forever though, and apparently now he's back to earning it like the rest of us.

Not sure if true, but I believe the person who told me. :)

Cheers,
- Martin.

So what are they??

Haven't personally confirmed lifetime WP.

High 'value' WP/CL's can get invited to special VIP QF events that sometimes include access to QF top brass.

They also can get some very nice 'thank you for your custom' special gifts sent out, have seen once for a birthday as well.

No hard schedule for either though.

Have seen entire family made CL (yes inc a 12 year old daughter!). But that CL was flying more than anyone here could imagine in F and has influence over a larger travel budget.

If you want to get to know the unpublished benefits then become a CEO,CFO of a Fortune 50 company.Even if you dont do much travel you will be offered special status on many airlines.I do know one who is CL on QF.Regularly invited to the QF box at sporting events yet would not qualify WP on earnt SCs.
Also CK with AA even though was only qualifying gold. But if you control a large travel budget then you certainly do count.
Those are not the only airlines to have offered top status.

unfortunately the Fortune 50 only includes American companies, otherwise my company would easily be in the top 50... But I am more interested in the unpublished benefits from flying on QF metal rather than the CL benefits which are a different story.

That's interesting boss. I've never notice before as I usually only allocate my seat around 24 hrs before flying, but just looking at a flight next month, I can allocate any seat in the cabin except row 1, so now I know I'm not WP+! I guess 3000+ SCs per annum are not enough or I am spreading the love too much across other OW airlines...

I've seen QF send out bottles of Grange and photo frames to some colleagues for being in the top 'x' FFs in QF. The photo frame didn't go down well with my colleague's wife, who thought it added insult to injury!

Well, in the noble pursuit of science and answers, I have decided to run a basic, yet flawed and imperfect, but better than nothing, experiment.

I will sacrifice my comfort and convenience by diverting as many of my flights this year to QF as possible, which I would guess should yield me around 5000 SCs, and I will report back at the end of my experiment, any observations in additional benefits or better service.

This will be off a base of a few straight years at WP+PG levels, so not from a zero base.

cheers

Not meaning to sound weird, but do you hold a high level job with a title to match in a company that spends significantly with QF? Just because I know these things play a part in the 'intangibles'...

I have seen life time platinum but as others have mentioned in this case it was not given on personal flying which is still considerable but being in control of the travel budget(ceo) of a large corporation and implementing a Qantas only travel policy this is currently useless as he is CL and has been for many years now, but will come in handy in a few years when he retires.

Further to this, it is also possible to have Life time CL Membership, Two people in my family have been given this however one has since past. They were original FF members with three digit FF numbers. The membership is renewed every year despite only taking one or two flights a year.

I guess you could say so, but that will be a constant variable. :)
