Last month I booked a JASA Syd-Scl return for 192000 QF points and about $700+ cash component. To use a credit card (no other option available) to pay, there was a $30 credit card surcharge which as a % was relatively small but still was over 4%!

Last night was looking at booking a JASA Syd-Mel one way for +1 which costs 16000 QF points + ~$65 cash. To pay this with a credit card cost a whopping $7.70 which is nearly 12% of the cash amount! No other option to avoid this fee like Bpay unless I pay for the whole fare using QF points (additional 6513 QF pts). Not happy QF:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

But thats the nature of QFs flat fees - swings and roundabouts.

Those paying $30 on the First class SYD-LHR route get a damm good deal.

Nice little profit margin for executive bonuses....

Hopefully the RBA step in and regulate CC surchages further, so that they need to be based on a cost-recovery basis only.

That all said - we were always paying these fees - it was just hidden in a maze of cross-subsidies, and it meant those paying by cash etc. were the ones getting screwed.
