I recently flew SIN->LHR via Helsinki. The first leg creditted fine, but HEL->LHR didn't credit - all the same booking class.

I lodged a retro claim and received the following in my Activity Statement:

2 JUL 13
UNSUCCESSFUL - CHARTER FLIGHT
AY 831 ECONOMY 23JUN13 HELSINKI/LONDON

Does anyone know what this means or who I can ring to ask? I'm in the UK at the moment.

Wouldn't normally worry, but it will leave me 5 SCs short at the end of the month to retain WP.

Thanks

I have never had any success claiming AY flights online for some of the most ridiculous reasons, send an email to the frequent flyer team with a scan of your boarding pass and the flghts should credit just fine

There's only 2 options here, data entry error resulting in an unsuccessful claim. QF error possibly due to cutting and pasting resulting in an unsuccessful claim.

From overseas call 61(3) 96585302, listen for the options, select frequent flyer team or similar. Don't speak to the customer care team it's a different dept. and they will refer you to the frequent flyer team anyway.

Sorry forgot to mention you might need to call during oz business hours. I got my claim resolved quickly via a phone call after unsuccessful emails.

thanks for the advice, data entry is probably OK (matches the date and flight number posted in the QF response). Very irritating, together with denied lounge access in HEL with the kids (not QF's fault).

Yep email is very reliable. Occasionally these things do happen. A long haul cx flight in paid J becoming a non-earning first class ticket once according to QFF. Even if they credit late then you will keep your status. I'd email then if not resolved after 5 days phone them. In the above case they looked at the emailed documents over the phone and fixed it on the spot for me.

RedRoo resolved the issue very promptly, thank you.

Next time I will try the email address first though.

Almost identical thing happened to me last year on AY. Promptly fixed by emailing QFF, but there does seem to be a pattern here.

I can also confirm that all my AY missing points claims on QF website returned "charter flight" message...even in the B fare bucket!! Everything was fixed after sending BPs to QFF. Unfortunate to see that nothing has changed in over a year though.

The return portion credited fine, despite PRG->HEL being operated by Flybe (supposedly a Oneworld affiliate for the purpose of these flights).

Odd concept - operated by flybe but no flybe flight number showing in terminal, finnair branded aircraft, cabin, cabin crew, duty free - the only evidence of flybe was the safety card.

And J would be better but well beyond my means with the 3 kids flying too!

I am having issues with crediting - AY flight - (I) (business) class - codeshare on Qantas aircraft. The automatic thingy would not credit and came back with "NO RECORD OF TRAVEL" or something similar. I couldn't believe when QF told me that they needed proof that we flew. I suggested that they check the passenger manifest for the flight as it was their flight! The woman I spoke to would not budge. She wanted copies of Etickets and boarding passes. I have posted everything in and am waiting.

Lounge access with kids on Oneworld Partners is just a shame. This is one reason to keep Partner Gold: Bring wife and my two girls into the lounge without any discussion.

I think there is some major issues with AY's systems. After a recent booking I went up from SG to WP but my AY status never changed. And the QF ground crew admitted to me AY was always a big pain to interline tickets with

Was allowed in on the way home without any issues - though I took a more subtle approach - hid the kids away, approached desk and asked - there was no problem at all....

This is common to other airlines as well e.g AA.
If you think your new status is not appearing, just have the airline removed your freq. flyer number and then put it back it. It then picks up the revised status.

Re interline ... personal experience has been very solid. QF 1st & J check-in along with Domestic to International e.g this is where I expected to have an issue but it went fine: 1st PNR: QFD from Syd to MEL then QFI to HKG.
2nd PNR: AY from HKG to HEL (departing on a different day from HKG on the QFI arrival)
Both separate PNRs booked with each airlines. So the only relation being OW.

The Return being on AY from HEL to SIN (1 x PNR) then QFI from SIN to BNE and QFD to SYD. Interline worked like a charm again.

Where I have had 'issues' is when it appears the check in person doesn't know how to do it. They seem to want to 'blame' the airlines vs their understanding of how to use the systems correctly. Again, just my personal experience.

QF and AY are both on Amadeus , so Interline should never be a issue thru check .... as nonpop mentioned, I would say more user error

As for the frequent flyer status not updating this is a common issue.... as the FFN is entered when you book it takes that status .. and is not automatically updated. Remove and add normally does the update trick

as for the original flight showing " charter" I would say that error may be within the QF loyalty system as they most likely have a incorrect flight range loaded as " charter" and hence non earn

On my last flight - MEL syd bkk hel - qf international connections desk in MEL domestic refused to check bags through to Europe even though 1 pnr.

i have complained to qf so will pust back response.

My view is lazy or incompetent checkin staff. Any dill can create a bag tag and this can be done manually by adding in flight segments. I had one flight with LO out of Poland and they managed to put on an Ay connecting bag tag which was not part of same pnr. AA, CX Alaska Airlines all very good with bag tags - why can't QF do this?
