I received this email from Qantas this morning. Not sure if it's targeted.

I do fly to NZ regularly, but I'm not sure what they mean be "visiting home"... I'm Australian.

Also, I notice that only Qantas-operated flights count. So, this promotion will be of limited use to me as I usually book the Emirates codeshare.

Got it too. Not MrP who is the one who flies to NZ every 2-3 weeks. I have been once in 18 months. Figures!

I have booked a single fare from NZ. Maybe thats why Home? Except - so has MrP. Mine was on EK, his are usually Q.

Look how much extra a WP can earn...

Received the same offer also, which appears to have widely targeted as reported on the other FB forums.

I have yet to check out the fares, any good fares available at the moment ?

I got it also. I've flown to AKL a bit recently.

An Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means Qantas operated flights between:
- Sydney/Brisbane and Christchurch (QF134 to QF139);
- Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane/Perth and Auckland (QF111-QF112, QF123 to QF126, QF140 to QF149, QF151 to QF156;);
- Sydney/Melbourne and Wellington (QF159 to QF164, QF171 to QF174);
- Sydney/Brisbane and Queenstown (QF121, QF122, QF181, QF182, QF185, QF186).

I got it. It's an utter insult. "Visit home"! How very dare they! I'd have to leave home to go to New Zealand.

:rolleyes:

Glad to think QF thinks everyone else calls NZ home, too. Weird.

Good point. Red Roo - I still call Australia home

Is it just me, or has New Zealand drifted north on those little maps? Maybe now is the time to visit, Auckland climate might now be tropical.

Possible they selected the wrong mailing list when they sent it out... we do NZ once a year on QF but its not home.

Now if only it was bonus SC earn as well as bonus QFF points earn.
Then I would seriously consider it.
QFF points earn as in the email does not help in status ascension.
Edit: whats missing, and no one brought it up, is that EK code shares are excluded!!!
NO QF8xx_ flight numbers in the list.
That one detail slipped past me too till I saw #5 above.

Looks like it has been targeted towards people that have flown to NZ recently. But perhaps Qantas has forgotten that there are reasons to visit NZ other than living there?

Fares to NZ do appear to be reasonable at the moment. E.g. MEL-AKL is $392 return for the dates I searched in early December.

See post #1...

I got the offer. Fly to NZ regularly as husband is a kiwi and he works in NZ for blocks of each year. Now just need to plan some trips! A bonus in my quest to get to LTG this year. Unfortunately, I usually use EK on QF flight numbers coming home so will need to change that.

Well, I just booked a flight from SYD to AKL. I had a choice of the Emirates flight at 07:50 or a QF-operated flight at 08:35.

I chose the Qantas flight. What's wrong with me?! :shock:

I also fly the ditch on EK but due to DSC promo booked some QF flights. Although it would be great to earn some more points I'm already counting down the number of flights left on the 738 and don't think I can fathom more.

45 minutes sleep is good...

But QF Loyalty has struck ;)

I got it too and go to NZ every couple of years but was also surprised about the go home - unless NZ is going to become the next Aussie state
