Hi all,

Hopefully quick question, was a bit difficult to determine from the velocity website

What determines the availability of seats for upgrades on points and the WP Flexi upgrade. Is it just if there's a reward seat available, or just if there's a J seat available

I have 4x WP upgrades and am keen to use them bne-per over Christmas ( I know it's late!!).

I'm hoping the plat upgrades just require a free j seat

And is upgrading on points an alternative if the reward seats are gone?

A reward seat has to be available for you to use your WP complimentary upgrade and you have to purchase a full flexi fare as well (we're also going to Perth with our 4 x comps)

Hmmm, seems quite expensive. For two return Flexi tickets it would be an additional $1200 over the base getaway/saver. Almost makes more sense just to get the business reward seat for 140k points

Doesnt help you but I got our tickets back in May, I just compared them to current prices and yeah - theyve gone up.

Is there anyway you can depart from the Gold Coast? Doing that alone should save you $100 per person per flight (i.e. at leats $400 in total). You can also just use your upgrade on the SYD -PER sector I believe. I used my WP upgrades on this route earlier this year and the flights were very enjoyable. I was seated in 1A and found it great but as stated above a window and aisle seat is not quite set up for conversing with ease.

I must be new to this. Checked a few dates and you're right!

How is going ool > Syd > per cheaper than just Syd> per ???

Just a note of caution. The 4 x comps are for 4 sectors flown. Important if you are booking for a couple.

cheers,

Who really knows but generally leisure routes are much cheaper. I believe it's even cheaper to originate from CNS and fly via BNE or SYD which would give you some solid J flying time.

Agreed, hence why I noted above it could be useful to just redeem on the SYD-PER sector when calling to redeem the WP upgrades.

A couple of years ago when there was a double SC offer, we booked flexi fares PER-MEL-OOL return which generated enough additional SCs (hurray for family pooling) and eligible sectors to push me over the line to Platinum. At the time, the fares were around the same cost as if we'd just booked flexis PER-SYD return!!!

True. I booked with Delta, SYD>LAX>ATL>SCL return all in J and it came in cheaper than VA SYD>ATL return.

Part of the route is heavily subsided but win for me.
