Upgrade from PE to Business using points MEL - LHR (or CDG)

Hi all,

Quite new to the Asia miles upgrade process. Just wondering what people's experience has been upgrading from PE to Business on Cathay for flights such as MEL - LHR (or CDG) (one way)

Specifically,
- how easy is it to check your flight has upgrade availability before purchasing (I understand you need to call the Asia Miles call centre re: this)
- can you upgrade your wife from your Asia Miles balance if you're on the same booking
- am i correct in thinking total for 2 passenger upgrades from MEL-LHR (or CDG) would be 70 000 points?

Check for award availability - this is used for upgrades also. Your wife can be upgraded after you add her as a redemption nominee to your Asia Miles account. Use the Flight Award Finder to confirm number of miles required - enter both legs seperately. Good luck
