Hi all,

Wanted to see if anyone had any similar experiences and the results. I had a premium economy award ticket booked to LHR booked all on QF metal. Since then, there has been a minor flight timing change, so I was requested to either confirm my new flight or select a new one from a list over a 2 week period. Trawling through the list, there were several options for business class on Emirates the entire way, so I selected it to see what happens.

To my surprise, it all went through and now I have an Emirates PNR, and am able to select seats and even book a chauffeur through EK's website. It seems to be ticketed as C class on QF's site. I have used others (CX, AY) to confirm this and see the fare basis code as Z (which I believe is linked to the PE award ticket I used before).

Wondering if anyone else has seen similar and if there were any hiccups along the way? I am a bit worried about showing up at the airport and something going wrong (especially that the fare basis code and class are different?).

C is Flex Business for EK. If it's worked you've somehow scored something very, very nice.

(as an aside, Z is award First for EK - I had wondered if maybe the booking classes somehow got confused)
That is what I thought too, but Z is also QF's award PE class. So seems the 'fare basis' code is stuck in PE but class is now J? Not sure if that's going to cause an issue...

If it is a booking class code mix up it seems to have turned out for the best. From experience I know that booking codes can go sideways, I posted in the P1 thread a few years back how SST had been working on getting a revenue fare and x2 rewards properly ticketed. In this case the 2 reward flights looked liked they had ticketed correctly I had an eticket with a 081 number and I will come back to this. It was the revenue fare that was causing issues and as it would not ticket I did question why the rewards flights ticketed. What it came down to was some selected MU domestic routes at the pointy end some seats are sold a business and others as first, not sure why the seats are the same. Our booking PVG-HRB was one such flight. The revenue booking was made in QF (I) but as the MU route was designated F it was trying to book into U and kept failing to ticket in the MU system. If that route was designated as business there would have been no issue as MU uses J,C,D,I for business seats anyhow SST sorted that out. A month or so later SST called to say they had fixed the reward bookings to which I didn't even know there was an issue. Although it was ticketed by QF the MU booking had not ticketed in the MU systems. The MU fare buckets for business rewards O and I assume that the QF and MU systems can cater to this. In our case the rewards were trying to book into first (A) which most likely confused the system. In the end it all worked out.

Nice! EK or QF flight codes? Sounds like EK which could still make the net points used equation interesting!

If the OP was able to book CD it should be under EK flight numbers. Very intrigued and I hope it all works out for the OP! Would be such a brilliant result.

I have travelled with EK using QF points a number of times and IME if you can log into the EK site using the EK PNR and select seats enter APIS data etc. it is a pretty good sign. The thing about computers is that they only do what they are programmed to do, it is normally the human intervention that stuff things up. I would keep a copy of all the documentation and screen grab anything you think may be of value. Also what I learnt on my last trip if you call EK they can change the QF FF that is most likely in the booking to a Skywards number, if you do not have one it is free to join. I only mention this as when called EK it took ages to get through to the call center, I was trying to add my EK FF for the free wifi in F and online I could not change my QF number to EK. Once my QF FF was changed to EK FF the system recognised I was in F and when I called a second time the call was answered immediately. I am only assuming that the call times for business PAX are answered quicker.
