I've won a holiday to Las Vegas and fly AA to San Fran/LV on Good Friday (747-400). I have chosen seats but also have the choice to upgrade to premium economy. Is it worth paying the extra $159 each?

What flight is the upgrade available on? SYD-SFO?

Yes UA 870 to SFO

For a flight of that distance I would think it's worth upgrading! That being said, I'm not sure of what their seat is like.

Definitely do your research. I don't think they have premium economy. It's "economy comfort".
A few extra inches. Not a special cabin with wider seats and fancier food. Just extra leg room.

EDIT: it's economy plus
