Im going on cruise thats ends near Beijing China for June 2016 so still 12 months away. I was thinking of using points to upgrade. Whether or not I upgrade 2 legs or just Singapore to Brisbane

I've just signed up for KrisFlyer and was going to transfer points from Velocity. I wondering do I need to buy flexi fares for 3 people and then call up for upgrades? I have know Idea where I need to start, or when I need to start looking and so forth.

Any help pointing me in the correct direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Yep you are correct you will need to buy flexi fares to be elegible to upgrade!

Once you have purchased the tickets you can log into your krisflyer at the singapore air website and redeem an upgrade online from there (under manage my booking then on the right somewhere upgrade).

You can refer to the one way upgrade chart at http://www.singaporeair.com/pdf/ppsclub_krisflyer/charts/SQMI_OneWayUpgradeCharts.pdf to tell you the required amount of points for the upgrade and you can then transfer over from velocity to krisflyer at a rate of 1.35 velocity points for 1 krisflyer point.

I think the points are for each leg so refer to the chart to check out how many points you need.

Note though, the upgrade depends on availablity! If you dont find one you can keep checking and they may release more upgrades!
