First Time poster - but thanks to all the valuable advice gathered already by just reading!!

I am planning to go to Europe (Germany) in May this year on business but want to take my 8yo son to see his grandparents as well.
With some FFMiles at hand I was thinking of using them to upgrade (my status is Platinum, his status Bronze).

The only option really is to book us booth into Y and apply for an upgrade (unless I book myself into J and only ask for him to be upgraded ;))

Would I have better upgrade chances flying via LRH or FRA (does not make a difference to the end destination, but one would be A380, the other 747) ?
Are there differences /better chances to upgrade from PE to J compared to Y to J ?

Last but not least just after a confimation that in general award upgrades with QF FF Miles are only possible on QF ticketed AND operated flights, NOT on codeshare with QF flight number (eg BA flights)

Thanks

Correct (only on QF flight numbers on QF metal).
