So I took out the virgin flyer card last month, and how come to the realisation that the $1500 per month is far too little for me.

I have called up Virgin and asked to upgrade the card to the high flyer, which will also give me complimentary travel insurance.

They have advised they cannot upgrade my card until my account is 8 months old... WTF? I'm not asking for a credit limit increase, I simply want to upgrade to the higher product. Why on earth would my account need to be more than 8 months old?

Is this a case of the phone rep being wrong, or is this a legitimate thing?

That doesn't sdound right, i'd send an email to their head office. I did a while back and they helped me. I can't remember the email address but you should find it on their website. best of luck

Thanks, I fired off an email and have received a response. The 9 month wait is if a credit limit increase is requested. They have said that someone will be contacting me in 48 hours to discuss - so hopefully should resolve my issue!

:)

This can happen if the credit limit for the current card is below the minimum for the High Flyer card. Then you would need a credit limit increase to get the new card.

Got a call today that the new card had been posted :)

Should see it Monday/Tuesday hopefully
