UpgradeMe Points/Bid query

Hi Guys,

Just booked in to fly over to London on VA "premium economy" in July which is halfway serviced to Abu Dhabi and then through to London on Etihad.

Was looking at a points upgrade cost at 45,000 points for each way on this booking via the VA site, would this cover the entire journey assuming it was successful or just one of the 2 flights on the way over to London?



Feeling a bit ripped off to be honest as I didn't realise that Etihad doesn't have premium economy as their site didn't explain it clearly during the booking process but such is life I guess

My assumption is that it would only cover the VA flights, as I don't think you can use VFF points to upgrade Etihad flights.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you flew J on the Etihad section because they don't have premium. What does it say on your booking??

Yeah just checked my booking after making it and it did say Economy so that is what got me looking into upgrading etc...


here is hoping there may be some kind of upgrade action but I'm not going to hold my breath, only SG too on VA so not goign to be too impressive on my status either this time round.

Upgrade will be only on the VA operated flights.

On the VA website it does say it just above the continue button, down the bottom of the flight selection page.

This can be very easy to miss when the IBE shows 20+ flight options that take a while to scroll through and given the ticket selected is clearly listed as Premium oner might assume that you fly in a premium seat.

There should be a popup warning when you select a flight that will result in you sitting in economy on a premium ticket. VFF if your reading this can you please pass this feedback on to management / IT?

It also shows it on the right hand side " booking summary" when you select the flights , this booking summary appears on every screen in the booking steps showing what cabin you are in for each flight

That information can sometime be displayed incorrectly... as shown below.

It displayed PE for both legs at one point during my search, which is incorrect.
