I have a question about international upgrades

If I were to fly PER-SIN-LHR and I check in to the SIN-LHR segment when departing Perth, and I have requested an upgrade for that segment, does the fact that I have check-in affect my upgrade request. (The upgrade for that leg may not have been processed yet)

Does Qantas at the time of processing the upgrade, view the person as being check in and overlook them when awarding an upgrade??

Thanks

International Upgrades are normally processed at some time less than 24 hours before a flight.

During this period Your QF MMB your flight status will show something like the following for the flight:
Status: Waitlisted
Class: Business (U)

The status will show as "Confirmed" if the upgrade comes through.

As it happens the above was copied and pasted from qantas.com showing my details for a flight I have requested an upgrade for tonight.

In most cases, the SIN-LHR upgrade processing will have been completed long before most people would be checking in for the PER-SIN segment. In my experience, all my waitlisted upgrades that have successfully cleared have been confirmed well in excess of 12 hours before the flight.

If you SIN-LHR upgrade has not been confirmed by PER check-in, I would not have any confidence that it is going to clear. I know some people have had experience of last minute upgrade confirmation, but that is unusual and generally a result of rolling the cabins rather than last minute review of the upgrade waitlist.

However, if you were checked in I very much doubt it would affect your status on the waitlist. Its very easy for them to reprint a boarding pass in a different class.

Yep, at 9:15, ~30mins after my post #2 here, QF MMB had changed:
Status: Confirmed
Class: Business (U)
and my QFF account was 80K points lighter ...

This between 13 and 14 hours before the flight's scheduled departure.

Just wish CheckMyTrip was working so I could ascertain seating allocation.

I thought CheckMyTrip won't show seat maps this close to departure?

Is there no seat number in the QF MMB?

On my last upgrade, the 40,000 points missing from my account was the first indication. At that time QFF was still showing the waitlist as Requested. CheckMyTrip was showing the upgrade complete with new seat assignment. It took a few hours for QFF to show the upgrade as confirmed. Again this was around the 14 hour mark, but could have happened anywhere between about 21 hours and 14 hours while I was asleep.

It will show seat allocation: 25A - Non-smoking; 'tis the underlying hotlink that often will not show a seat map. (Note that it will normally show seat maps for QF Premium cabins even close to the flight date/time)

In this case no; it was booked online but when I had exit rows preallocated, the seat number disappeared. They still showed up on C/M/T.

Last time I got this it was due to the only available seats being bassinet seats, or so I was told
