Parked at the QC lounge in SIN, awaiting QF78 to PER and wondering what happened to my upgrade request again. QF website says 'status will be shown 5 hours before departure', with one hour to go. Service counter says 'sorry...no go'.

Had exactly the same result on SIN-LHR a month ago, didn't expect much chance of upgrade, but did expect QF to tell me what the result of the request was.

Anyone know why the outcome is not shown online? Is this just a SIN thing?

Cheers skip.

I dont think I have ever seen it show as not going to happen, QF seem to leave their options open, mind you seat counter shows 0J inventory.

It's happened to me most recently in May, when I requested Y to Y+ on QF9 SIN-LHR. I didn't know what's going on with my upgrade request.

The same happened to me a couple of weeks ago departing SIN. I checked shortly before arriving at the airport and my upgrade request said 'status will be shown 5 hours before departure'.

I arrived 4 hours before my flight and asked at checkin about my upgrade using points. The agent told me he had trouble finding my request and asked how long beforehand had I requested it. I told him 90 days. He just shrugged.

Up to one hour before departure my booking details on the QF site said 'status will be shown 5 hours before departure'. No upgrade eventuated.

I too have had the problem with lack of information from the site - and yes, it was connected with a SIN connection. Not good communications. Mind you, also a bug when you do get a points upgrade and then have to ring and get the status credits and points credited:

Qantas computer taketh easily, but sometimes not giveth as easily! Cursed be the computer, at times!

I had success with a SIN-LHR J to F upgrade a few weeeks ago. I cannot recall off the top of my head what the booking reference said (though I think it ended up reflecting the upgrade status accurately), but I certainly recall being alerted to the success of the upgrade the night before by the 35K points being debited from my FF account.

PS. I did have Jetlagged's problem (or a similar one). The flight showed on my statement as an award flight, zero points or SCs - an online 'request' sorted that one quite quickly. I also had some alarm at the gate when my BP (issued that morning at NRT by JL) did not 'register' and the people at the gate needed my e-ticket number because they "Couldn't locate my ticket in the system". The flight was absolutely full and I had visions of me going from J to F to not-on-board-at-all, but it was sorted after a few phone calls and about 5 minutes.

I had a request, LHR-SIN-PER last year, showing as declined within 24 hours of departure, but when I checked in it was granted for both legs.

At approx T-24, all upgrade requests are waitlisted in the relevant booking class (U for business, P for First, i don't know about PE). If the upgrade request is granted, the waitlisted U/P segment will be confirmed with the original air segment scrubbed out. If the upgrade isn't going to happen, the waitlisted U/P segment will be cancelled. You can see this in the PNR's 'native' booking system - if the U/P segment shows as cancelled or HX it is an indication that your upgrade request has been declined.

I believe its the award class for upgrades, so I believe PE is Z class.

I have had that twice, think it was a glitch that has now been fixed. Nothing like seeing declined but noticing your seat is in the J cabin when you paid Y.
