I've got a double barreled question. I will be flying SYD-PER next Thursday. I want to upgrade my flight to business from economy. If I upgrade, will I still accrue points for the trip at the economy base rate?

Also, ive gone into my QFF account and clicked upgrade, and it says to contact your travel agent or ring a qantas travel agent. I am about to transfer 10 000 points from my credit card (only have 16k rewards points in total), so I cant really afford the extra 2500 they will charge for the assisted booking, or will they not charge this?

How long ago did you buy the ticket? Was it online or via a travel agent?

You should only get that message if it is not ticketed yet. So if purchased via a travel agent. They have not paid qantas yet. If purchased via Qantas.com it can take about 1 hour (normally only 5 mins) unless your cc decliened.

Question 1: you will earn miles and SC's for the ticket booked.

Question 2: as V8 replied, but also red edeal tickets can't be upgraded either and you'll get that same message.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That message is quite common on tickets not purchased directly from Qantas ime. A phone call to Qantas to request the upgrade sorts it quickly and there is no 2,500 surcharge for requesting an upgrade over the phone so nothing to worry about there

Thanks, its a ticket provided by my employer, so I assume its not paid for yet. Ill give them a call once I transfer my citibank points over. (assuming the transfer can be done in time)
