Upgrading at Check in and gifting lounge access

Hi Everyone,

I'm booked on a return flight on the weekend and both sectors have a waiting list for an upgrade to J class. I could go on the wait list but does anyone know if you can upgrade using points at check in? Subject to a availability of course.

Second, I have 1 spare lounge access showing on my Account from when I was Silver status, I don't require it now as I moved to gold a few months ago and was wondering if anyone knows if you can gift it or similar?

1- Only way would be a upgrade in the lounge - after check in

2- Cannot gift as such, but could use it to add a extra person entry over your GOLD allowance

This is probably the only option. Remember also that the lounge pass will expire within 12 months so it's best to use it before then.
