Upgrading Emirates Business Class Award Flight booked with Qantas?

I have 2x flights booked in Emirates Business Class from DXB to WAW - booked via QFF as award seats

I cant upgrade via EK - manage my booking as it was a QFF award flight

Does anyone know how to upgrade to First Class?

I have read that you may be able to upgrade award flights at the airport using either cash or skyward miles and could be as low as 30k points per person

Has anyone had luck with upgrading a QFF award flight either with cash or points & what the cost/ points was?

We have upgraded a paid fare as an offer to upgrade was received by email. We were also given free upgrades on an award fare at the gate. I have heard people offering to pay for an upgrade at the gate. Dont think in that case they were successful. But likely many have been.

In short, generally no. Not if booked on points through QF.

If you can see F reward seats on the flights you want, one method would be to change your existing booking. Which will be the difference in points and a change fee.

Or make new bookings in F and cancel the J bookings.

Booking direct with a carrier for paid or points flights usually provides a greater choice of upgrade options (if available). But that’s not always possible eg someone who has QFF points but not EK points.

If you booked with EK points on EK then there is a possibility, though somewhat unlikely, depending on availability and your EK status.

Call EK and ask.

I booked with QF points in Business but 2x First Class (Z) seats became available on QF so i booked them and cancelled the original Business seats

Now time to keep my fingers crossed for the flight home
