What both the previous responses are saying is that once the flight has taken off you are not able to upgrade to the next class of cabin.

Occasionally pax may be given what is called an "op-up" (operational upgrade) but the pax is usually advised either upon boarding the aircraft or prior to take off.

If you haven't checked in yet it may be possible to call and buy a business ticket. Or something. But no way to upgrade in flight as mentioned.

Welcome to AFF guitoune!

Unfortunately as mentioned Qantas does not do paid upgrades in flight unless you decide to pay the difference between premium economy and full business class at the sales desk before check-in.

am sure on some airlines it is possible - whether you get a receipt and ff points is another matter
