Folks

Need to travel from SFO - BOS in Oct and can take 2 days to do it, and a week later BOS - JFK.

While I have 35K AA miles and could just get a free one way F class ticket I would like to know if anyone has suggestions for a good value $$$ fare that can earn some SCs and take me up from Silver.

Suggestions, as always, appreciated

Paddy

Don't have a particular budget in mind.
Just 95 points away from Gold and it is a fair leap from there to Plat without doing a DONE4 or similar.
Quite happy to fill most of 2 days flying all over the place!

Not in a position to do pricing at the moment, but a routing idea would be Day 1 SFO-LAX-HNL (60 + 150) Day 2. HNL-LAX-ORD-BOS (150 + 120 + 90) for a total of 570. Way past SG and well on the way to WP.

Something as simple as

SJC-DFW-BOS should get you 110SC which prices out at $790.00 AUD on an KUPP instant upgrade fare.

SJC San Jose is about 40 kms south of SFO airport.

flying from SFO comes out to about $1067

Now if you want to reach Platinum in 2 days ask Serfty. Paging Serfty. ;)

900+ SC's tough to earn in two days.

Also, ex SFO Bay area is expensive.

SFO-//-TPA, TPA-//-BOS & BOS-JFK can earn 400 SC's for around AUD1600.

A simple SFO-LAX-SFO earns 120 sc's for AUD400.

I've got a similar challenge. Flying SYD-LAX in mid sept and while in the US need to rack up at least 250 SCs while hitting NYC, PBI and possibly BOS and/or LHR (order irrelevant & need 250 above the 90 I get for the Discount Economy RT SYD-LAX-SYD). That'll lock me into Platinum with QF.

Would like to minimise $$ if possible.

Was thinking:
lax-jfk, jfk-pbi, pbi-dfw-lax as a minimal (how many SCs does this get?)
lax-jfk, jfk-bos, bos-jfk, jfk-lhr, lhr-jfk, jfk-pbi, pbi-dfw-lax as a max

most efficient from a time perspective would be:
lax-jfk, jfk-bos, bos-lhr, lhr-mia/pbi, pbi-lax

but I don't know if it's possible to do this, earn the right SCs and keep cost low.

Thoughts?

Welcome to AFF sonny :D

This thread is about First class fares.

ONT-DFW-LGA in (restricted) First class costs USD520 (~AUD650) and will earn 210 SC's.

ONT is Ontario, California - a small airport about 100 km East of LAX. You can transfer LAX to ONT on a super shuttle, fly or do a one-way car hire.

getting from LAX to ONT to catch a flight - FlyerTalk Forums

You can First class do ONT-jfk, jfk-pbi, pbi-dfw-lax for around USD1500 (start from LAX and it's 1950). This would earn over 600 SC's.
