Hey guys,

Looking to do a SC run when in the states in May. I noticed some flights on AA are operated by american eagle therefore.

1. are they really cough?
2. do i get SC and FF points?

Or will AA be bankrupted totally by then? (vague memory)

Thanks :)

1. I don't mind AmericanEagle. The ERJ and CRJ jets are fine. Service not great, but good. Enough (for US!!)

2. You need to make sure that if flying Y, that your fare bucket earns points as some discount Y on AA do not. Search the forums or QF website for which buckets do.

American Eagle has it's good points - smaller planes that don't usually involve residents of LOTFAP hauling masses of luggage onto 7x7s in a mad scramble.

You could do worse... AA whY springs to mind :p

AA is flush with Cash I wouldn't worry about them ceasing operations.

As for American Eagle, if you are doing YUP fares, be careful. American Eagle flights don't have F in them and your YUP fare/SC opportunity is wasted.

Thanks guys,

that is not good news, because the ones that says operated by american eagle, they still say F class......... ummm......

Its gonna be a SC run so trying to max out with F :)

¨American Eagle now offers First Class service on all CRJ-700 aircraft. Along with the introduction of First Class seating, American Eagle offers customers the same level of outstanding service they experience in an American Airlines First Class cabin. American Eagle First Class service is available on select routes from Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and New York LaGuardia¨ Take Flight In First Class | AA.com

Selected routes with selected aircraft means you have to be very careful.
Particularly when doing multiple stop YUPs.
Even short hops offer a mixed bag, for example a simple search in April:
LAX-SLC The morning flight is a no F, whereas the afternoon flight is a F.

YMMV.

I think as long as what is indicated is accurate, then its ok. Just dont want a surprise on the day.

Whilst I'm not Marvin the Mindreader, beware of aircraft changes, schedule changes and other things that can happen without any notice, and sometimes very close to departure, again YMMV.
I'm undertaking a couple of rather long SC runs in May and avoided taking American Eagle, but that is my preference.

IMHO, it is one less thing to worry about when already pushing the enevelope, there is enough great SC options available that here is no uber reason to need to fly on them.

I've flown in an American Eagle CRJ-700 in seat 2A, and it was a great experience. The seating is 1-2 in first, so it's particularly good if you're travelling by yourself and can get an A seat (of which there are only 3). However, the overhead lockers on the left side are particularly small, so expect to have to compete for the right-side lockers. The onboard baggage situation on Eagle is not anywhere near as problematic as with mainline jets, as Eagle flights have a valet bag service.

Now with First Class Valet

Wheelie Bags are collected just before entering the aircraft, and returned on the aerobridge as you disembark.

Also agree that Eagle flights, with the single sided "A" seats in First/Business Class should be sort out by solo travellers, not avoided.
