The Albatross are flying J to DWN and the picking up a JQ flight 4 hours later.

QF Website said:
"Business customer can access the lounge when departing on a Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number. No guest access."

Will albatross be welcome to use the domestic QC lounge on our arrival to kill a few hours before going to customs? Will we be able to use the lounge after arrival on the domestic leg?

Unless you have QP access, I can't see them permitting you into the DRW QP for a JQ flight.

you will be permitted access if you are a Gold or Platinum member, otherwise you will not be permitted entry AFAIK.

Just to add to that, as it is JQ OW access rules do not apply, only QP, SG or WP will be able to enter. Do not pass the dragon, do not collect an HP.

thanks for the feedback guys. I'm happy to do a plan B car tour of the city int he 4 hours instead.

on the return we have another 4 hours stopover before departure on QF J and will be content to avail ourselves of the showers after the overnight JQ from SGN.

I have a slightly similar question... I'm flying into CNS on QF but due to less than optimal internal travel agents a colleague is arriving a couple of hours later. What are the chances of arriving in CNS and ending up in the QP (I hardly fly thru Cairns and can't remember if it's even possible or if arrivals & departures are separate). I'm pretty confident that I won't get back thru if they are separate.

As far as I am aware the CNS temporary Qantas Lounge is airside. If you have Platinum status, or Oneworld Emerald, and do not have checked luggage I do not see any reason why you could not use the Qantas Lounge on arrival.

The Qantas Club Lounge in CNS International terminal is now closed.

Lounge On Arrival (or anytime) is not a benefit extended to oneworld Emerald. In fact, I am aware of BA Gold's being turned away from QPs. (Which is quite reasonable, given BA’s own arrival lounge access rules.)

Regardless of anything else, beware that the QC will only be open when there are Qantas Flights around.

In December I flew DRW-SIN. My flight was at 15:40. Even though I have QC membership meaning I could have accessed the lounge, it closed around 14:00.

I asked QANTAS about this a while ago - and was told that if you're a Gold Frequent Flyer or a paid QP member, then you only have access to the lounge at the departing airport - not at the arrival airport.

It's only the WPs that have the "QP lounge access anytime" policy, but my understanding is that even they can only access the domestic J lounge at their departing airport - they can't just wander into the J lounge at their arriving airport - only the QP is available at the arriving airport.

Or is this wrong? I would be very keen to hear if people have been able to get access at the arriving airport contrary to the system I thought was in place above.

Personally I've only had the need to do this a couple of times - at Syd and Mel mostly and HBA once to kill some time. Just walked in no probs.

Mel used to scan your card very frequently to check you had a valid flight but I haven't been scanned there now for at least 5 months now.... the rest just make do with sighting your card (usually)

I suspect you may get alot of different stories and replies to this question though!

I called Qantas yesterday. Official story is that it is an ' on departure' service.

They lady did say to check onthe day and my luck anyway.

And luck sometimes works, on my arrival into SYD once, my mate was running about 30 minutes late and they let me in to sip down a few beers while waiting for him

It is not quite right. I posted a thread recently about QF relaxing access rules to the business lounges.

I accessed SYD business lounge yesterday and had my father with me, he was not flying, and was allowed inside the lounge. Arriving into BNE went to the counter and showed my boarding pass and said I have just arrived from SYD and would like to use business lounge. No problems at all the lounge is not busy. I suspect at busy times they may refuse entry to the business lounge on arrival.

On a number of occasions I have gone into the Qantas Lounge after arriving on a flight and I have been told "Sir, your lounge is this way" pointing to the business lounge.

Ah, good - it's good to know that they aren't quite so rigid when it comes to the rules.
