Use of Virgin lounge on domestic Etihad codeshare

I am due to fly to AUH from SYD in business next month. I am connecting to this flight on an Etihad codeshare from Canberra, in economy. I was hoping someone could assist in letting me know if I can access the Virgin lounge in Canberra given the intl business connection. Have no status with either.

Technically no but I'd be surprised if they didn't allow you at the desk.

smit0847 is correct. However there is that old saying... 'if you don't ask, you don't get' It doesn't hurt to ask and depending on the load in the lounge you might just get in.
