OK i was looking last night to see if my woolies points were added to my QFF.
Anyway looking at my points total, i figured i could use them. I've nearly got 192,000 points from CC and a lot of economy flying for work. Last time i redeemed a return economy to Johannesburg.

I was thinking of going premium economy or business somewhere. Anyway no premium economy from CBR but when i changed to SYD i noticed i even had option for a one way first class fare to London or New York.

So is it worth it to just try it? Or is business really good enough and what first offers is just a lot of extra pampering I can easily do without.

I have flown F several times on Qantas, twice on New Zealand and twice on United, but am now happy in 23D business class for long haul. In saying that, if you haven't flown first class before (and you have the points) you should do it just for the experience. It is really a different world up there, and you get the experience the First Class Lounge at Sydney with spa treatment, fine food etc before flying. My tip, fly First; eat at the lounge and graze on the flight, and enjoy.

I have flown F on BA, QF, CX and AA and it is a great experience on them all - but not necessarily worth it now for me to only do. My last aaward in F was only because there were no J aawards and whY was not an option...

Next time I go to the UK or US on QF I will be looking to upgrade from J to F - just to get back in the swing of things ;)

IMHO the jump from Y-J is huge. The jump from J-F is noticeable but not huge.

Its definately a nice once in a lifetime thing to do if you have the points to burn. However, if I had to choose between always J or a combo of Y&F, I would go always J.

Enjoy it if you decide to go for F!

If you are going to blow points on a 1st class award to Europe, I would recommend phoning QF and finding a date with availability on QF to HKG and then CX onwards. CX F is far ahead of QF F but you will need to phone since QF will not offer CX availability online

First is much nicer than business and if you have the points/money worth doing

Worth doing at least once in one's lifetime. Have only flown F twice and it was out of this world for an average Joe Blow. Having said that I will now ration my points out to get more J flights in future. C.M.

I agree with previous posters around the difference between Y/J and J/F

F is definately nice, but the difference between long-haul Y and J (at least on QANTAS) is where you get the best value for your points, if you are rationing them.

I'd say go for the F experience at least once though. ex-Syd on the A380, with the 8 course tasting menu, and some RWT (if they have it) is fantastic. Not to mention that both London and NYC are great places to visit - nothing like arriving in style :-)

I had your dilema earlier this year. SIN to LHR for 3 of us .QF Y or BA F....well I can tell you the BA F was well worth it. But beware it's difficult to go back.
If you are going to go ahead make sure you do it properly and do the research with particular reference to J.
QF J horizontal lie flat seats on 380 lie flat tilts elsewhere( not as good for a long sleep)
BA J new club world more comfortable than original club world see QF009's latest trip report.I don't have experience of CX.
SQ new business class super wide horizonal lie flat (they really are mammoth) on 380 and 777ER .Elsewhere lie flat tilts.
But of course in F you get matresses and duvets and great champers and it seems such a waste but you can sleep away the whole trip.
So do the research, get on the right plane and get the value for those hard earned points, but if I had the points to burn again I'd do the F class anyday!
