Using a Flight Centre gift card to pay cancellation fees?

I have flights booked and am after a refund. Cancellation fees are $1500 but if I were to claim flight drop protection I could have a $900 credit. Could I use this $900 issued as a flight centre gift card to pay cancellation fees?

I doubt it.
But worth at least claiming the voucher.
