I have a question- perhaps it.s been covered before. Suppose a UK company buys me a return ticket in sterling to travel between LHR and Adel. Can I start the journey in Adelaide?

How will you get to ADL? The inbound sector cannot be before the outbound sector.

In order to start in ADL it will more than likely need to be purchased from Australia and you will lose the savings gained by purchasing from UK.

OK. This is what I needed to know. I have been forwarded tickets purchased overseas before to commence ex Adel and I wondered if I might do the same through my UK company. Obviously not if there is no price benefit. thanks.

We have just do it for our Daughter thru my wifes sister in UK. But had to use different airlines, they did it thru a TA in UK. No question asked, but I must say we have got her there, so I hope we can get her back???

Hmmmm Interesting! If I understand you, you have organized two separate single airfares with different airlines - one starting from Australia and one starting in the UK - and both paid for in the UK, persumeably taking advantage of discount fares available. Both airlines regard the flights as outgoing and have no interest in the inbound flights. So... Are two single fares cheaper than a return flight from Australia?

I must apologize, to everyone. I had nothing to do with this, and I have got it wrong.
Firstly my Sister in laws daughter (Niece) works for BA, and she organized it, using Staff discount. The discount was also supported by my daughters employer (very large UK mining company). My wife informs me that it costs more to fly two, one way air fares.
Again Sorry about this.

You may actually find that 2 one-way airfares on full service carriers will be well more than a return flight.

A one-way airfare on Qantas, BA, SQ etc may well be the same as a return airfare, if not more.

Do some research on airfares for the dates you want to travel.

It's fine - I think the situation is clarified and the brief episode of excitement did no harm to my health. So... My next step is to get a job for a close relative with one of the airlines. Thanks to you both.
