Hello Forum,
I am looking at using my FF points for a return flight to Bangkok, i am advised when redeeming this flight that i will be with Jetstar, this off course means that there will not be any meals served and no option to upgrade to say a seat with extra legroom, they do include 20 kg checked baggage though. Can anyone advise if there is a way I can use extra points to include these options?.
Thanks in advance

Hi kirkie45 and welcome aboard. The harsh truth is that using QF points for JetStar is a very poor use of points. As advised you cannot upgrade etc.

You're better off paying the fare and saving your points for another use.

Agreed, not a good use of points.

However if kirkie45 still wants to use them this way, it may be better value to redeem them into jetstar vouchers and then use the vouchers to get the package (seats, meals etc) that they want.

As other have alluded... I'd be checking the taxes and Qantas fees and charges on an award ticket compared to buying the fare outright. When Jetstar has a sale, the use of your points might only save $20 or $30 on the total fare... and you've lost 50,000 points in the process.

If it's school holidays or other peak time... you might get better value for money.

The other thing you might consider is using your points to go one way 'business' class on jetstar, and buy an el cheapo for the return.
