Using Nor-1 e upgrade and HH Gold upgrade together

I have a booking at the Hilton Fiji resort for a studio beachfront. After reading here + email to the property I am assuming I will receive an upgrade to a 1 br beachfront apt.
As I'm there for 8 nights with my wife and baby I'm wondering what would happen if I signed up for a Nor -1 e upgrade to a 1br beachfront for 50FJD in the hope of an upgrade to a 2br apt? My thinking is the possible outcomes are:

• upgrade to 1br beachfront - same as I would have got for no cost so waste of money
• upgrade to 1br beachfront deluxe - basically a shared plunge pool - which I wouldn't want to pay for
• upgrade to 2 br beachfront apt - the result I'm after
• no upgrade at all.:shock:

Does anyone understand how the e upgrades work? As the Nor-1 has to be paid for at check in, is there an opportunity to see the outcome and cancel prior to arrival?

Some properties show their status upgrades some days (not sure how far out) before arrival. IF you look at this and it shows your upgrade and then try the Nor -1 e upgrade it will show at reduced rates. I hope that makes sense.

Log-in to your account and look at your booking. It may show your upgrade prior to arrival.
