Can someone tell me if it is possible to use Velocity Rewards points to obtain Delta Flights in the States? We are looking to fly LAX to MIA return and have loads of points. We have already booked a BNE/LAX flight on V Australia but was not aware of the need for the flight to MIA at time of booking. The VB Contact Centre did not seem to know, just told me I can earn points on Delta but what about redeeming?

Right now I think it's just earning.

The Velocity site has no information on redeeming flights with DL, so I'd assume they may be waiting until the VA/DL joint venture goes through before they bring in full FF reciprocity.

I know Virgin America (VX) have just recently started flying SFO/FLL (Fort Lauderdale) and they had some great introductory fares for USD99.00 per person one way.

I would be inclined to just pay for a ticket either or VX LAX/FLL via SFO or check out the DL website for fares LAX/MIA which would probably be via ATL or DFW. The via fares are cheaper as you generally pay top dollar for travelling on non-stop flights.

Failing that what about redeeming points on Virgin America?

Can you schedule the trip for midweek and avoid travelling to/from cities when there is major baseball or football game happening.

Our SEA/LAS flight via SLC was USD59.00 per person (checked baggage extra) but luggage was though checked onto next flight.

Cheers

Hi benbegg,

Delta is presently only an earn partner with Velocity but we are working with them to become a redemption partners (this is part of a broader ranging alliance agreement which includes codeshares and lounge reciprocity) and hope to be able to make an announcement within the next few months.

You can already use your Velocity points to buy any seat on any airline (including Delta) but this is quite expensive in terms of number of points required. This will change when we get access to their reward seat inventory at which time the points required will be in line with other such redemptions.

cheers

So can I use my V/R points to redeem Virgin America flights? or is this something that is also in the pipeline at the moment?

I too was trying to redeem points for travel. In my case, I called Delta to obtain an award seat on V Australia. I was told just what the earllier message on this page said; that Delta and V are working out the full parntership agreement, and until it is done and announce by Delta, reciprocal travel will not be available.

If anyone would like to trade tickets, I would be willing to get you a Delta ticket in exchange of a V Austraia ticket. I need a Business International ticket from LAX to Christchurch NZ and return.

Looking for travel departure around mid April 2010.
