Using Qantas Club Vouchers in LAX

I'll be passing through LAX in March/April on QF107/108 en route to JFK. I'll only be PS at the time and flying Y; so no Qantas Club access. However I do have the one voucher for access to the QP for attaining Silver, I was thinking LAX would be a good place to use this on the way to JFK to have a shower and freshen up.

Questions -

  • Will the voucher given to me by Qantas be valid at LAX?
  • Is it worth using the voucher at LAX? I'm assuming so as the QF website is listing it with shower facilities

Thanks!

I don't see why it wouldn't be valid, but someone else may correct me. I think it is a One World lounge, or maybe operated by Qantas ground crew anyway. I can't remember.

I liked the lounge... althouh the air con didn't work when we were there, so a shower meant more sweating after. Just before we left to get back on, air con came back on!!!

Was very crowded, but shower was well worth it on QF108 from JFK. I did it in J last year.

The lounges at LAX are Qantas Clubs (Fly - The Qantas Club - Lounge Locations - North America ) - although operated jointly with other airlines. I believe QF107 uses the (Tom Bradley Terminal - TBIT) lounge.

You should have no issues using the QP pass there.

I think you'll get good use out of it. A shower after a long flight and before the next flight is always great!

i believe on the back it says only at Qantas operated lounges i tried in Japan and it was a no go before i was gold

I tried using a voucher at LAX about two years ago and was knocked back as it was a joint QF/AA lounge.

It wouldn't have been pre Oct 2007 and TBIT terminal perhaps? There were renovations occurring at that stage and lounge access was restricted.

I can't understand why a QP pass wouldn't be accepted at LAX at either T4 or TBIT. Both are marked Qantas lounges.

Here are some overseas lounges marked as "Qantas Lounges" (not associated lounges), and listed with who operates them:

Los Angeles (Tom Bradley) - Qantas/British Airways/Cathay Pacific
Los Angeles (Terminal 4) - Qantas/American Airlines®
Honolulu - Qantas/American Airlines®
Bangkok - Qantas/British Airways
Singapore - Qantas/British Airways

If Qantas Club passes were routinely refused at any (or all) of those lounges, I would expect a lot more posts about the refusal. I just find it strange that they would be accepted at the other lounges, but not LAX T4 or TBIT.

I called Qantas FF; nice person on the phone thought I should have no trouble using them at LAX. Obviously if that's not the case, you'll hear about it ;)

I used a voucher at TBIT in September last year, and was told that because the Qantas lounge was a bit busy, they were accommodating people with vouchers at the nearby SkyTeam lounge, which turned out to be run by Korean Air.

When I got there I noticed three other Qantas vouchers behind the counter -- and there were a total of three other people in the lounge. It did fill up a bit later, but was never very full. They had showers, snacks, drinks and wireless, so it was everything I needed.

You lucked out! I wish they would have directed us there! TBIT Jlounge is a bit of a hole when it gets busy! (although I do like the Sam Adams on tap)

I had the same experience. I actually called Qantas before I left and they told me it shouldn't be a problem, but that I should check with the lounge directly. I called the lounge directly and they said, quite emphatically, "no". I tried, anyway, but no dice - they said that as it wasn't solely a QF lounge, they had to knock me back on those grounds. Seems harsh to me.

I'm travelling from Honolulu in March and have a complimentary pass - does it mean I'll get knocked back there as well?

That does sound particularly wrong. Especially since others (even in this thread) have been given access? I don't really believe the staffer's answer was correct for the reasons I've already posted in this thread.

Honolulu is also a joint operated lounge, although it is operated slightly differently due to different departure times of AA flights vs QF/JQ flights. I would say you shouldn't have any issues - but you never do know...

As another data point, I used a PS voucher (obtained with the aid of much helpful advice gathered while lurking for far too long here and on FT - many thanks for the excellent insights) last week at the LAX T4 QF/AA lounge. No problems getting in at all; drink vouchers were gratefully received without prompting and the staff were more than happy to supply a wifi code. Makes a shot at SG look all the more appealing...
