Using QFF points to make classic rewards bookings for friends

Hi - can anyone point me to a Qantas policy statement (web etc) which clearly states whether or not I may use my QFF points to book flights for two friends who I would like to have visit me? I've just spent 95 minutes on hold, only for the Manila based agent to pretend that she could not hear me, and hang up on me, I have tried searching everywhere for a definitive policy ruling on this and I cannot find anything.

If I have to shell out of my own pocket, do I at least get to earn the status credits and points for this travel even though I am not the one flying?

3rd option - can I transfer some points to one of the two of them and - if so - is there a fee for doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Jeremy

Thank you. Greatly appreciated. I just got off the phone with Virgin / Velocity (who took 2 minutes to answer) and they advised me that I can book flights with them in this way - and they have no such policy constraint. WHich is strange - on the web, commentary suggests it is not possible, but the agent advised that I can?!

Are you confusing VA with QF here? the QF policy is for eligible family members while VA has no such restriction - neither do a bunch of other airlines.

Certainly some people have stretched "eligible family member" meaning to include others - and we've certainly seen QF take note of some situations (mostly issues with "family transfers" being abused as part of the sale of points - which is also a violation of the QFF T&C - and I suspect they care about THAT aspect more than someone redeeming a flight from HBA to MEL for their "cousin" but I wouldn't suggest or support that kind of activity of curse).

I admit to redeeming points for a "cousin" to fly J BNE-CBR for a special occasion a few years ago.

And I've done it for Seat Son's partner a few times - not strictly daughter-in-law as they are not married, but near enough I figure.

My GF has definitely been my cousin a few times and if you do get audited it will be you in the wrong. It is within their power to terminate both FF accounts and wipe it out with any points / status etc. Although the reality of it happening isn't likely unless you have very suspicious point transfers.
