Using the travel credit for flights

There are BA flights in Europe I can book directly on ba.com for around GBP 170 so thought this would be a good opportunity to use the travel credit. Yet on the Amex Travel engine they will only show Y availability (and one flight with B class) and demand AUD 900+ for them.

Is this deliberate or a glitch?

Local GDS only show Y fare for overseas domestic flight if it is not international connecting flights.

no if you use amex travel Australia.
