Hi everyone, this is my first post. My I say first, AFF is a great resource and I have really enjoyed reading it over the past 12 months.

Now, to my question: I am flying J with VA in December to LA from Brisbane. On the VA website it says there is currently no lounge "at this stage" at Brisbane International. I was just wondering if anyone knows when they're likely to get one.

I would also love to hear anyones VA Business Class experiences.

I believe there isn't a lounge in BNE and I am unsure when one will turn up in existence.

Funnily enough, if you fly VA in J to Fiji from Sydney, you are not entitled to lounge access. Strange.

There was no lounge there when I flew in May

The best J flight and service I have had to date

It will be good when V Australia has access to more/better airport lounges (or builds their own). Perhaps with an Air NZ alliance, access to the Koru Club lounges?

My thoughts from two recent Business class trips on VA to LAX via SYD and MEL:
In February in SYD, the Malaysian Golden Lounge was acceptable and also serving the hot noodle soups. However, in June in MEL, only a very small selection of snacks were available. I was advised that no hot noodle soups were available because no Malaysian flights were departing for 5+ hours. The LAX Alaskan lounge is small, but comfortable. Would be much nicer if they had showers for those connecting from New York/Washington onto a VA flight though!

Apparently the Brisbane problems are that no other provider will allow access to use their lounges, and the airport won't allow another lounge to be built..

Hopefully the AirNZ arrangements will help solve this.

No..... Are you serious? Why not?!

One would assume they want to keep costs as low as possible for the Fiji flights so V Australia paying another airline for lounge access is not high on the list of things to do!

Sending the 777-300ER on SYD-NAN flights is a stupid way to utilize the aircraft

I will add that the Malaysian lounge in Melbourne with the morning MEL-LAX flight on VA is a poor excuse for a lounge.

Heck, even UA lounges are better!

Time for UA to ditch the MEL lounge and VA to get in there.

Who has used the old UA lounge space in SYD ?

And this is supposed to be the full service arm of DJ. Looks like some of the LCC genes got transferred and infected V from DJ...

Annoying as I'm looking at trialling V to Fiji... Maybe not now. Mmmm...

I’m trialling VA from SYD-NAN in a couple of weeks in J. The no lounge access for flights to NAN is annoying but as a WP I will just use the QF J lounge. What will be more annoying is having to walk past the QF F lounge to get to it... ;)

I'm flying VA in J this weekend to HKT. Unfortunately going via BNE so no lounge for me. Bummer!

I love VA but the no lounge access even for J pax is pretty cough... if Garuda pax can use the QF lounge in SYD, then I am unsure why VA couldn't find a similar deal for the BNE pax.

Yeah they definitely need to sort out the lounges. They also don't offer one in SYD on the soon to be cancelled NAN flights (they do for other flights) but as a WP I was able to use the QF J lounge for my recent flight.

BTW I agree with you about VA - I am going to give them a try to HKT or LAX on my next trip. Even though the NAN flight was short, I found the hard and soft product in J to be fresher and much more fun and more "luxe" than QF J.

Just travelled Bus class to coughet(was superb) better than Qantas. Left from Bribane international and was able to use Air NZ Lounge. so there is a lounge at Brissie International.

That's a great development. I assume now the DJ/NZ deal is on this is the first tangible consequence. Seemed like an obvious move and great that it has now happened.

I note the velocity web site nor the V Australia site don't say anything about this yet. Hopefully will be updated soon. I wonder if they will switch to or provide the option of the NZ lounge in MEL or SYD soon?

Since the tie up with NZ seems to be a goer I am not surprised, I expect the same elsewhere unless a club house is available, in which case AirNZ might move to that.
