I think i'll need to do a bit of crazy travel in September. Not quite confirmed but i think i'll need to go from MEL/SYD to Istanbul and then New York to MEL -- budget may stretch to P/E but not J.

VA serves both cities but i'm curious about whether you can buy two one way tickets as a return?

Basically i'd like to buy a MEL via SYD-AUH-IST in P/E on the way over and a JFK (or LAX)-MEL in P/E on the way back (about two weeks late) but i was hoping to pay the prices for a "return" on both legs as they are considerably cheaper than the one way fares.

You can't do it on the web site, just says to call the call centre for multi city bookings but as i'm out of the country and not sure about the details yet i thought i'd ask if anyone else has tried to do this?

Just an idea... Have you tried booking via Etihad?

Then again, there could be a million and one reasons why you can't.

DOH.. Like Etihad.com won't let you book into PE with VA.

Yeah, no PE on Etihad. Also the plan is to come back via the West Coast of the USA and cut some travel time if possible.

Ugh.. That sounds like one messy itinerary. Something only a OneWorld could pull off. :P

Qantas wants to send me via LHR to get back to Istanbul. Not keen for obvious reasons. Haven't looked at other OW options but the VA-EY to IST connection is a lot easier. Plan then would be to hop a one way flight from there to NYC and then head home from there via LA.

Would make an interesting OW status run i guess - although i have no status with them so it could be awful, awful pain without the lounge access.

oh shut up liam

your undying loyalty to the red rat is charming at the best of times, rightful annoying at the worst ;) - but keep it out of the virgin forum hey?

I was going to say that trying to book that many sectors using VA's current IT system may just crash it. Good thing VA's IT network is getting a full makeover soon.

Oops? Did that slip out..... Sorry.

Call the call centre and they will usually arrange it a a combined price from the relevant legs of 2 return fares. I did this 2 months ago for travel to and from 2 different US cities and AUS... Also did one leg as PE and one as business.... The call centre was very helpful....

hardly a scoop i care about - you know all things 'techie' bore me to death... ;)

It may be harder booking through various sites, but worth it in the long-run. Also considering 777 has VA partner lounge access the effort now is worth it in the long-run.... no?

Thanks Mal, that was more the info i was after. Hopefully they'll let me do the same to bookings to 2 different continents :)

777.
