The VAustralia web site now has London listed as a destination on it's website. It connects via a V Australia flight to LAX and then virgin atlantic through to London.

I may need to go to London in Jan. If i book this flight will i earn velocity points and status all the way through to London or only on VA leg or not at all? Also, as a gold Velocity member will i be eligible for lounge acces in London and/or LAX on the way though and back?

Will get back to you on this. Certainly you earn status/points and have lounge access for the VA flight number. As an aside, technically this is interline not codeshare as the LAX-LHR segment only carries the VS code. The intent is certainly to eventually let you earn status on VS flights and access the Clubhouse in LHR, but I don't know offhand if those arrangements are in place yet.

cheers

Thanks Dave. While i get that it's technically and interline, it probably doesn't appear that way to 99% of people - you go to the VA web site, select "London" from the drop down menu and it looks like you are making a VA booking. It wouldn't be unreasonable for people to assume that VA perks, privileges and benefits would apply on that flight. You may need to spell it out on the site if they don't?

Good point thanks 777. Would rather provide the actual perks than the disclaimer which I know will be the case - will check on progress. In the meantime will see about note you suggest.

Hi 777, yes you will get Velocity points for the entire flight, but the Clubhouse reciprocity may not be in place by the time you are travelling.

We have a date for when we expect to make a major announcement concerning reciprocity of lounge and loyalty programs across the Virgin group airlines, but not something I can say publicly sorry.

Just to clarify, on the VS leg from LAX to LHR, is the accrual rate at the VS rate earning only Velocity Points, or is it at the VA rate, earning both Velocity Points and Status Credits? Thanks.

At present it is accrual at VS rate earning only Velocity points
Velocity - Virgin Atlantic

The intent is to bring earning on VS into line with VA (i.e. rates of earning both points and status credits and also redemptions) so that it will be like flying the same airline.

Thanks Crazydave98.

Just another quick question. Am I right to assume that VA codeshare flights operated by Delta within the US will earn at the VA rate + status credits, but DL marketed and operated flights within the US will earn at the DL rate?

I believe that is correct.
