V AUSTRALIA TO SHOWCASE FIRST 777 AIRCRAFT TO STAFF BUSHFIRE FUNDRAISER EVENT AT BRISBANE AIRPORT

V Australia will turn its staff “show and tell’ of the airline’s brand new 777-300ER aircraft this weekend into a fundraising event to raise funds for the Victoria Bushfires Relief Appeal.

The airline will host more than 1900 team members and their families at an aircraft open day which will be the first opportunity for the majority of the airline’s office staff and crew members to see “Didgeree Blue” following its arrival from the Boeing factory in the USA earlier this week.

Hotdog stands will be set up at the event and all proceeds from the day will be combined with the $100,000+ already raised by staff, crew and Virgin Blue Guests over the past week via in-flight and office collections.

V Australia will be the only Australian airline to fly 777-300ER aircraft and will launch services between Australia and the USA on the 27 February. The V Australia aircraft has a number of unique features ranging from a female only toilet, a starry ceiling, Australiana animals and symbols on the wallpaper as well as quirky catchphrases on the crockery. The special design elements were created by the Virgin Blue and V Australia teams in conjunction with manufacturer Boeing and staff will see it for themselves for the first time this weekend.

The aircraft has a total of 361 seats, including 33 in Business Class, 40 in Premium Economy and 288 in Economy Class.

The V Australia aircraft has a number of unique features ranging from a female only toilet,
:?:

So how do they enforce this? Only seat women in the vicinity? A door person?

And why not a male only toilet, e.g. a urinal?

Bet it doesn't last long.

You got to laugh at some of the features used in marketing campaigns. Perhaps the toilet seat will be down permanently. :-|

I dunno, a sign that says "Women's Toilet"? Seems to work everywhere else in society.

For anybody interested the second VA 777,VH-VPD arrived in Brisbane this morning,it's my understanding, from a friend who works at BNE that it will be doing almost continuous MEL-ADL training flights over the weekend with "Touch and Go" landings at Avalon regularly.

Wathched her depart this morning from MEL whilst I ate my mini-pancakes in the Dom J Lounge at 8am(ish).

Very short take off run so assume she was empty. Nice to see a 777 with an Aussie reg.

I've been told that VA have been doing almost continual testing flights from MEL to ADL and back all week and doing lot's of quick touchdowns at Avalon, and a couple of flights to OOL.

Perhaps the signs on the door may indicate the purpose, such as some of these examples:

And I wonder if they ever bought an A380 if the pointy end facilities may look like this?

Saw it too - though I did think it was a QF A330 at first glance!

I like the 4th photo in the set of the link I posted.
The smoke from the tyres reminds me of Albury on a Friday night after the pubs have shut.

Saw it up close yesterday - it was parked near the freight side at the south end of BNE - looks just great. So good to see a brand new 777 in an Aussie fleet. And the colour scheme looks great - the photos dont do it justice. Looked awesome.
