I see a price I am quite interested in using VA metal. For one it's 2900 dollars in biz. When I do it for two it's 7 thousand dollars plus! Could this be down to how many seats they release at lower price? Do you buy one, and expect VA to then make available the lower fare again? Then buy it separately? If it go pear shaped I assume at VA biz fares are fully refundable (they seem to indicate that in the blurb). Am I missing anything? 🫣🤔

Should be able to tell by looking at fare class or type, somewhere.
I’ve seen this before when on the last seat of a fare class.
There is near 0 chance of them releasing another seat in that class until right before the flight, if ever.

I think that’s spot on. If only one seat is left at the lower price and you want two, BOTH price at the higher fare.

You could cut your losses and buy one at the cheap price, then the second at the higher price.

All business class fares are fully refundable, less the credit card fee for voluntary refunds.

Both price at the higher level also because change fees etc would often differ, and then mass confusion would reign when trying to cancel etc.
It’s not a scam, exactly, except in the way all airfare pricing is a scam

Sounds like there was one seat left at the cheaper price. When you requested 2 seats, both seats are then taken from the higher fare bucket.

Buy 1 at the cheap price give it a few days and see if Virgin add another single biz fare at the lower price, #onemileatatime did mention that Virgin will sometimes add a 2nd reward after the first one is used. Note you will get more points and SCs on the expensive airfare.

It's actually a bit bizarre. Been surfing a bit. One minute it's there....the other it's stating that a couple of the sectors are in economy (under mixed class". The aircraft are not the 700 series. 🫣 it was Perth to Haneda via everywhere Eastside..well it's points you know...🤭

QF do it as well, so its not only VA that does it, ie, "you will be seated in economy on this sector" or words to that effect.
Its them (VAd and VAi) charging you an all inclusive fare, but putting you in Y part way, so like it or not, there it is, you want to fly, you pay and sit in Y part way.
No lounge access in CNS, or HND on the way back.
Personally, if I lived in PER, and wanted to, or needed to get to HND/NRT, I would get the NH flight from PER.
At the least, if you are flying a premium class, you get the SQ lounge at PER T1, as *A partner, airline I mean.
You can also then, by pass having to do the dom to int tranfer at CNS, and int to dom back again.
NH uses larger planes too, so you can bring some warmer clothing, or more stuff back, if flying in back in Japan's summer.
Commercially prepared food eg.

Managed to do it without having single bookings plus 4 percent cashback on cash rewards. Have posted under new thread.
