I have bookings from MEL -- MXP and FCO -- MEL in May/Jun 2024 which I booked on VA flight number though it is a Qatar flight. Now I get a notification that they have changed my flights and instead of 1 stop they have rebooked me on 2 stop itinerary. Let me add one more tangent to the mix , I booked my flights using Amex Travel and used the Plat Charge Card for insurance/peace of mind.

If I don't want to accept the changes , what are my options ?

Thanks

This never would have been on VA metal, this would have been a codeshare with Qatar when you booked.

Virgin Australia has never flown a commercial service to Europe.

As you booked via AMEX Travel, you will need to contact them. This is when booking with travel agents start to have its pitfalls as they could start charging you extra for fees and changes if you don't agree to what is offered by the airlines.

I have corrected my initial post to indicate VR code but QR metal.

Will be contacting Amex Travel Desk to see my options and ask them to confirm the best alternatives that can be provided.

“Metal” means the logo on the tail of the plane.
I suspect you mean issued on VA ticket stock, and flying QR metal.

Generally if you don’t accept it is full refund.
You could ask Amex to battle for a different change, however. I wonder what the reason is

Agreed , however I checked the tickets in QR app and they are still the same as my initial booking.

When checking the same on VA app , the initial leg is missing and the return segment is now 3 legs instead of 2 legs which I will be asking Amex Travel to take up with VA and ask for alternative options if not the original flight.
