VA Codeshare transit question with bags

Travelling PER-SYD-HND . Domestic sector with VA and international sector SYD-HND with NH but with a codeshare VA flight number.

What happens at SYD? I see to receiving conflicting information. Do I need to check in at SYD as well or will Perth allocate boarding cards and also check bags all the way to HND. It really should be that simple.but with VA who knows!

Transfer at SYD for VA domestic to International? How is that done? I know it's easy with QF but is it easy with VA?

3 hours or so all going well. Just hoping we have all boarding issues etc at PER and bags booked through to final destination.
