VA/DL Flight Number Discrepancy

I'm ticketed with VA to fly SYD-LAX-JFK return next month.

A few weeks ago I was notified of a schedule change in which the VA flight number for the JFK-LAX sector had been changed to VA6613. When I view the reservation on the DL system I see that it shows the flight number as DL429 yet the other flight sectors are showing VA flight numbers.

Should I be concerned about this discrepancy with regards to earning points, status credits and eligible sectors? If I should be, who do I need to contact to correct the flight number to the VA flight number?

If it's a VA ticketed booking then that's generally the one to go by.

Often code-shares show up as the operating carrier's flight number on their PNR.

Just concerned that I might not get the credit for an "eligible sector" flown for status requalification.

As long as the VA ticket (795-...) shows the VA flight number you should be fine.

You should be OK - unfortunately the "interface" (or whatever you'd call it) between VA and DL's systems is an absolute debacle. I travelled to the US earlier this year, trip was booked directly with VA with the two US domestic sectors operated by DL. In the months leading up to the trip, DL made multiple changes to flight numbers and times, which is apparently a very common occurrence. There were also a couple of changes from VA's end of things as well. Problem was, EVERY time there was a change, it would stuff up the booking - at first this only happened on the DL site but then started happening with the VA site as well.

From 6 flights, all with VA flight numbers, I ended up at various times with flights just "dropping off" the booking (especially on the DL website), duplicated flight numbers/times, VA and DL flight numbers showing on the same booking (so ended up with about 10 flights displayed!), as well as the issue you've experienced with flight numbers. I had to enlist the help of the VFF rep here each time to get everything sorted out and eventually ended up with all the correct flights being displayed on both websites, except for the US domestic sectors still showing DL rather than VA flight numbers when viewed on the DL website. Despite this, I received eligible sectors for both those flights, although neither posted automatically (unlike the other flights on the itinerary), I had to chase them both up.

As a conclusion to my OP, all four of my flight sectors posted with points, bonus points and status credits.

I received credit for eligible sectors for three of the sectors and not the one from JFK-LAX which was the flight sector I had originally raised my concerns about where on Delta system it was showing as DL429 and not VA6613 for which I was ticketed for.

I've written to the Platinum desk asking to have the JFK-LAX sector credited as an eligible sector......hopefully that won't take too long.
