VA are releasing their Fiji fares at these great prices, not damn bad for a full service airline.

It may not be safe to travel to Fiji due to the political situation.

If you are brave enough that it is not a bad deal. If you are looking for a hotel, booking with the hotel of your choice directly is much cheaper (call them on Skype and ask for a local's rate).

I think I paid $390 for my Pacific Blue flights to Fiji earlier this year, and I booked the happy hour sale.

Not bad.

Fiji is still a pretty popular destination. I havent heard of any tourists not being safe in Fiji due to the govt rule.

If VA were to be this price competitive for a while, who would be flying Jetstar? I was guessing that $200~ fare might be something we saw from JQ with VA $100 more or so, but what chance does JQ have with VA's product at this price...?

Exactly, travel advisories and governments like Australia always warn people away from Fiji and Thailand due to the state of their governments, but for the most part you wouldn't notice a thing different.

I seem to recall not being able to fly into, or out of BKK last November, due to some radicals shutting down the airports !!!!!

In 1974 was in BKK where a night cerfew was in force from 6.00p.m.to 6.00a.m. Also the army had tanks on most corners, luckily I had a few Thai friends to get me around at night....................

Cheers Dee

Well from what i've been told recently, when JQ does enter this market they are not looking to make a profit from it, they just want to under-cut VA/DJ etc etc and push them out of that market.

I expect some might still go for that 10% offer they have.

I imagine alot of people automatically (and usually correctly) assume JQ is cheaper than DJ and will book without comparison.

Will be interesting how QF/FJ go though because this will be the only route where VAs product is better than the 'QF' premium offer.

Me thinks the Fiji Govt/Army may not be interested in buying QF's 40% share out, or maybe they'll get it for zilch if QF want JQ to go head to head with DJ...........

Cheers Dee
