This must be targeted. I have earned significantly more than 70,000 velocity points in the past year (probably about 194,000) and I'm still red. Not that I mind as I have no plans to fly domestically any time soon.

But did you earn chunk of those 194k points via credit card join bonus?

as opposed to OP earning them via velocity e-store etc. Just guessing as different ways to earn points benefits the frequent flyer program differently.

Then again top 1% was stated.

We'll never know the nuts & bolts of these random offers.
I guess giving Gold to a large point earner from Red level rewards loyalty.

Nice one anyway OP.

100k as a credit card joining bonus. Almost all the rest through Velocity Wine. As I say, I am not remotely fussed. I have no plans to fly domestically and all my annual leave is being banked for a QF Business Class One World Award in August to October 2022.
