I thought VA has a partner deal with SA airlines? Looking at Syd to Johberg or Cape Town and SQ are the only options.

I found the same thing recently - but yes they are a partner.

Grrrrrr. Looking at the SFA routes, its Sydney-Perth first. SQ J seats would be more comfortable by the look of the cabin.
