With all the recent changes, have been considering booking DJ / VA for an upcoming trip to Bali, however am not 100% sure about a couple of things:

- My understanding of the Lounge T&Cs is that there is no Koru Club access on DJ flights to Bali, and this has not changed despite the transition from the PE to J products and the change of Pacific Blue to Virgin Australia. Any word on this from Virgin Australia?

- Is advance seat selection available for these flights? In other words, would it be possible to have a git at preallocating row 3 two weeks out?

Any advice muchly appreciated as usual.

From my understanding you can only access Koru club if you are flying a trans tasman route, regardless of Pac Blue, Virgin or Air NZ.

In terms of seat allocation, sure you can try for row 3 two weeks out but that is not J class.

The T&C's are still showing Bali as an exclusion from Koru Club lounges

**Excluding flights to the Pacific Islands, Bali, Honiara and Port Moresby. Conditions of entry: Presentation of membership card and boarding pass for same day travel on Air New Zealand or Pacific Blue, when flying on Trans-Tasman or domestic New Zealand sectors.

I actually spoke to VA yesterday on this very matter as we are flying to Port Vila Boxing Day.

Bali, NZ and Pacific Islands are short haul international - so no lounge access even if you are Plat or Gold which is total contradiction to info on top of page on VA new you beaut web site.

Table on International Lounge Access | Virgin Australia does state access is not available when flying to Bali
+ Air New Zealand lounge access is not permitted when flying on Virgin Australia Short-haul International flights, e.g. Pacific Islands, Bali and Papua New Guinea.

^^ Virgin Australia lounge members must be travelling on a Trans Tasman journey with either Virgin Australia or Air New Zealand, or domestic Air New Zealand flight to access Air New Zealand lounges.

Thanks, just what I was looking for - pretty disappointing that this wasn't part of the relaunch. Now they are in the unique position of having a worse on-the-ground product than Jetstar, whose vanilla Business fare may not have lounge access but nevertheless permits access by SG and WP.

The latter query was separate to the former - naturally, if a J lounge is not an option, then the question becomes whether the benefits of a Y ticket can be maximised in the same way as it can domestically, hence row 3. :)
