A friend travelling BNE-LAX on VA this morning was upgraded to J along with three of his colleagues. The reason given was that one of the travellers, a Velocity Gold member, had been the subject of a vomit-related incident :!: on an earlier VA flight and had, allegedly, emailed the CEO about it... My friend has no status with VA but his other two colleagues are Platinums. I just thought it was worth noting as four J upgrades sounds pretty generous to me, vomit notwithstanding. :)

Depends on whether this flight was overbooked etc - too many variables to judge if it was OTT.

FWIW, it may have been full, so choosin two platinums and a guy who got vomited on seems a reasonable selection of pax to upgrade.

YMMV.
